The Frozen ShapeSetting: an old guardhouse in a Russian prison, 1953. On one side, a door leads to the prison compound outside. On the other side, a door leads down to a cellar. The Frozen Shape
Centre stage rests a table with a Go board on it. The go board is made up of 19 x 19 lines. Black and white stones have been placed on some of the intersections.
In front of the cellar door rests a bathtub. Upstage, two easels with paintings. The paintings are drab and colourless – black and white, maybe yellow, green or brown.
JOHN GENIUS is scrubbing a saucepan in the bath. GENIUS is a former prisoner freed by Stalin. He is a fanatical Stalini

Watery DepthsAs I drift though the watery touch of water-space, I wonder how we could ever distinguish this place from the lakes and rivers of our home planets. Every aspect was the same; ability to float, inability to breathe, the same heady and surreal feeling that accompanied its’ touch. It was now a few years After Heresy (or AH as our governments collectively termed it), and despite the complete suppression of all things religious nowadays, we still find ourselves harking back to the pre-heretic notations. AH, just like BC and AD, maintained its ties back to religion, which makes me think that it hasn’t been forgotten completely. &nbWatery Depths
